Vestkyst IPA

In Noorwegen kocht ikeen Vestkyst IPA. Ik kan geen Noors lezen, noch praten. Toch denk ik te begrijpen wat er staat. Het is een Westcoast IPA vermoed ik. De kleur, geur en smaak voldoen! Het is echt lekker bier. Een echte IPA.   

Wat zeggen ze er zelf van?

VESTKYST - American India Pale Ale 7,0% Norway's West Coast has lent its name to this very hoppy ale, historically designed to withstand the long passage to India. Accordingly, the fine, fruity nuances from the open fermentation are rather more difficult to discern. The malt mixture, incorporating Pale Ale malt and two varieties of caramel malt, are necessary to balance the power of the hops, which are added during the final half-hour of the boil to enhance the flavour and aroma. Once the primary fermentation has occurred, the ale spends nine days with dry hops in the tank, infused with Amarillo, Cascade, Simcoe and Zeus,, before being tapped into bottles and kegs for natural carbonation. Given that this India Pale Ale is brewed in Norway's westernmost town, the designation West Coast IPA is most appropriate. The powerful imprint of hops is an ideal accompaniment to spicy dishes, and, surprisingly, also the perfect adjunct to cured ribs of mountain-grazed mutton. Vestkyst even excels with blue cheese and carrot cake. Served too warm (new cask). Very cloudy brown colour, moderate off-white head. Lovely hoppy aroma of tropical fruits and resin. L:light brown/red color,gives a little top of foam in the glass when i poured it .S: Spiced hops,citrus,fruits pineaple and other tropical fruits T: a great taste. hops very dominant ,bitterness is very good balanced in this brew F :Medium body and carbonation , the alchol level is not very noticable in the mouthfeel on this beer. OG 1.073 • IBU 72 • ABV 7,7% • FG 1.014 • 20 EBC Vestkyst er kraftig humlet med klassiske humler som Amarillo, Cascade, Simcoe og CTZ og oppskriften sørger for at mest mulig digg presses ut av disse humletilsetningene. Kombinert med fruktig, engelsk gjær og en solid maltbase blir dette et balansert øl som ikke står tilbake for noe. Slik skal amerikansk indiaøl være, og det er ikke overraskende Vestkyst er Norges nest mest populære håndverksøl. Såvidt slått av Ink & Dagger, i følge Vinmonopolets salgstall.  Den kraftige humlesmaken står godt til krydra mat og faktisk også til pinnekjøtt. Prøv også Vestkyst til blåmuggost og til gulrotkake. OBS! I dette ølsettet blir humlen som skal brukes under koking levert i en pose. Her må det brukes egen vekt for å måle opp riglig mengde humle underveis på bryggedagen. Als ik dit door de vertaalgoogle gooi kom ik te weten dat:  

"West Coast is zwaar hop met klassieke hopsoorten als Amarillo, Cascade, Simcoe en CTZ en het recept zorgt ervoor dat er zoveel mogelijk uit deze hopadditieven wordt geperst. Gecombineerd met fruitige, Engelse gist en een stevige moutbasis wordt dit een uitgebalanceerd bier dat voor niets terugstaat. Dit is hoe Amerikaans Indiaas bier zou moeten zijn, en het is niet verwonderlijk dat West Coast het op een na populairste ambachtelijke bier van Noorwegen is. Vestkyst IPA is dus één van de populairdere bieren in Noorwegen!?

Op https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wi4nXJBIhss vind ik nog een filmpje over het bier uit 2015 alweer. Op dit filmpje is het bier inderdaad donkerder dan het blonde bier dat ik had. Als reactie op het filmpje vind ik nog " Thesilentwitness82 7 jaar geleden This and Nøgne ø IPA is in my opinion the best IPA,s you could get in Norway.Kinn in general make some fantastic brews.I hope you get the chance to review more from Kinn.Cheers ... Jos Mikkellerin kahvi-IPA:ssa vietiin viimeistä pulloa, niin Kinnin IPA oli sitten täysin tuore tapaus. Hanaan ei ollut vielä edes Vestkystin kuvaa ehtinyt, mutta se ei haitannut. Hana oli toimintavalmis ja olut oli valmis nautiskeltavaksi! Olut on kuparinvärinen ja vaikuttaa ulkoisesti hyvin paljon juuri nautiskelemaltani Mikkelleriltä. Vaahtoa ei jää tähänkään, mutta tuoksu paljastaa, että nyt on jotakin muuta herkkua lasissa. Tuoksu on oikein miellyttävän IPA:mainen. On hedelmäisyyttä sitruksen johdolla, mutta myös karamellia, toffeeta, havumetsää sekä paahteisuutta. Maussa on maltaisuutta, karamellia ja toffeeta, mutta myös hedelmäisyyttä sitruksen ja mangon muodossa. Olut on kohtalaisen katkerahko, mutta  koostumukseltaan matalahappoinen ja pehmeä juotava. Kokonaisuudessaan todella hyvä olut. Kinn ei ole ollut panimona tuttu aiemmin, mutta ensikohtaaminen oli tällä haavaa oikein miellyttävä. Täytynee joku päivä pyöräillä "Maikkeliin" toistamiseen. Als ik dit vertaal blijkt het een persoonlijk verhaal. Als ik er de relevante delen uit destilleer komt het volgens mij op het volgende neer: Het bier is koperkleurig ... Schuim blijft ... niet, ..... Het aroma is zeer aangenaam ipa maine. Er is fruitigheid onder begeleiding van citrus, maar ook karamel, toffee, naaldbos en toasty. De smaak heeft moutigheid, karamel en toffee, maar ook fruitigheid in de vorm van citrus en mango. Het bier is matig bitter, maar heeft een lage zuurgraad en een frisdrank. Kortom een echt goed bier.

Op zich leuk idee dat het bier verwijst naar de Noorse Westkust. En dat het zo een goed bier blijkt te zijn...
