Berounský medvěd

Vlakbij het bus- en treinstation van Beroun zit een brouwerij: Rodinný Berounský medvěd Pivovar. De brouwerij bestaat alweer 25 jaar. Het is gelegen op ca 20 minuten van Praag en goed te bereiken via spoor en snelweg (D5), nabij toeristische bestemmingen als Ceský kras en Krivoklatska Vrchovina.

Český kras, de Boheemse Karst, Tsjechische Karst. Dit zijn drie benamingen voor hetzelfde gebied. ... Český kras beslaat een gebied van 130 km² en heeft een zeer gevarieerd landschap dat voornamelijk is ontstaan door erosie  van de Berounka en de diverse zijrivieren. Er zijn prachtige valleien en kloven  ontstaan zoals de Kačák-vallei en de Kodská-kloof, maar ook de watervallen in de Bubovický kreek behoren tot de mooiste plekken in het gebied. Ze bestaan ​​uit ongeveer twee meter hoge kalkstenen trappen bedekt met mos en algen.  Het Nationaal Park Křivoklátsko (628 km²) ligt maar 40 km. ten westen van Praag werd in 1978 door UNESCO uitgeroepen tot beschermd natuurgebied en behoort tot het Křivoklátská vrchovina  heuvellandschap. Dit prachtige gebied is wordt voor twee derde bedekt met loofbossen en wordt doorkruist door de rivier de Berounka, die diepe kloven in het landschap snijdt. Er worden hier veel bijzondere grassoorten, vulkanisch gesteente en fossielen gevonden. Kenmerkend zijn de vele kastelen en ruïnes in de omgeving. De hoogste piek in de regio Křivoklát is Těchovín met een hoogte van 616 m. ... Midden in het nationale park ligt het plaatsje Křivoklát met de gelijknamige Burcht Křivoklát. Deze koninklijke burcht werd in de 13e eeuw gebouwd op de plek van een oud jachtslot. De Tsjechische koningen kwamen hier graag jagen omdat de bossen rondom het kasteel vol wild zaten. Prachtig zijn de laat gotische kapel en de koninklijke zaal. Hier is het rijke verleden van dit kasteel goed zichtbaar. Vanaf de hoge ronde toren heeft u een goed uitzicht op de omgeving.    .... Bijzonder zijn de burchten van Žebrák en Točník. Žebrák werd in de 13e eeuw gebouwd en Točník in de 14e eeuw. De burchten staan zo dicht bij elkaar dat ze een zogenaamde dubbelburcht vormen. In het plaatsje Lány kan het gelijknamige kasteel worden bezocht, dit is de zomerresidentie van de Tsjechische president. Een mooi voorbeeld van gotische architectuur zijn de ruïnes van de burcht Krakovec. Deze burcht was ook de laatste vluchtplaats van de Hussietenleider Jan Hus, nadat hij uit Praag werd verbannen. De eerste vermeldingen van bierbrouwen in Beroun dateren uit 1295, toen koning Wenceslas II Beroun tot koningsstad verhief en de stadsbewoners het recht gaf om bier te brouwen en te mouten, en het recht om te mouten. In 1872 bouwden de stadsbewoners een gezamenlijke brouwerij, die tot 1978 bier brouwde, waarna de activiteiten werden gestaakt. Na een onderbreking van twintig jaar blies het echtpaar Mayer de traditie van het bierbrouwen in Beroun nieuw leven in en richtte de familiebrouwerij Berounský medvěd op . De Berounský medvěd-brouwerij is een uniek " openluchtmuseum " - bezoekers kunnen er een rondleiding krijgen door de direct op hout gestookte brouwerij. Beroun ( Duits: Beraun , ook verouderd Bern ) is een stad in het district Beroun in de regio Midden-Bohemen van Tsjechië en een gemeente met uitgebreide jurisdictie . De stad ligt aan de samenvloeiing van de rivieren Berounka en Litavka , minder dan 30 km ten zuidwesten van het centrum van Praag . ... De naam Beroun is afgeleid van de Duitse naam voor de Noord-Italiaanse stad Verona ( Bern, Beronia ). De afleiding van het werkwoord 'nemen' is onjuist (zogenaamde volksetymologie ). [ 5 ] Een andere interpretatie stelt echter dat de stad vernoemd is naar beren ( Duits Bär ), zoals de Duitse kolonisten die er in de 13e eeuw als eersten aankwamen , de stad noemden . De beer was echter wellicht een zekere Ursus ( Latijn voor beer), de koninklijke bestuurder van de stad. [ 6 ] ... Volgens Otto's onderwijswoordenboek gaat de stichting van Beroun ver terug in de tijd. Mogelijk al in 1088, maar zeker in 1179, was er een dorp genaamd Brod met zijn inwoners, boeren en vissers, en aan de overkant van de rivier in de weilanden lag het dorp Podolí . Dit was vroeger de belangrijkste doorwaadbare plaats en veerpont op de weg van Praag naar Pilsen. De brouwerij ligt goed weggestopt. Toen we erheen reden kregen we een beetje het gevoel dat we verkeerd zaten. Zeker toen we de berg schroot zagen!? We zagen geen brouwinstallatie, maar wel genoeg andere brouwerijgerelateerde zaken, zoals te zien op https://www.berounskymedved.com/fotogalerie/restaurace/#gallery-1-4.  We gingen eten in het restaurant. Het eten was goed, maar het werd wel apart gebracht. De soep en goulash was er vrij snel, maar de gerechten die bereid moesten worden (friet en pasta) duurde wel even. Het deed allemaal wel erg authentiek aan.

This is a prime example of what I love about the Czech Republic. Where else would you find a brewpub and restaurant within the grounds of a scrap yard? A 3 min walk from Beroun Railway station (adjacent to the railway line) is an unmarked road heading into a scrapyard. Walk past the weighing machine and you will see some scrap army machines. De Berounský medvěd-brouwerij is een particuliere brouwerij in Beroun en tevens de naam van het lokale bier . De brouwerij werd opgericht in 1998 en zet de traditie voort van de oorspronkelijke burgerbrouwerij uit 1872. Bohemia Regent Glassblower's Lager This lager is deeply rooted in Bohemian history with session lagers being brewed for local glassworks since the early 1860s and it is no coincidence that Bohemia Regent owners also own glassworks. Bohemia Regent Renegat This low alcohol beer features a beautiful golden colour and produces a nice thick head. Aroma is malty with grainy profile and caramel notes. It tastes after grain, wort and slightly caramel. By the early 20th century, the brewery had reached significant production levels, reportedly exceeding 100,000 hectoliters annually before the outbreak of World War I. However, global events soon disrupted this progress. The collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire after World War I led to the loss of key export markets, particularly in Austria. During World War II, production declined further due to wartime restrictions and economic hardship. By 1945, the brewery was struggling to recover, facing both material shortages and structural challenges.... After World War II, the brewery was nationalized along with other major industries in Czechoslovakia. It became part of the state enterprise Jihočeské pivovary (South Bohemian Breweries). During the communist period, the brewery continued production but operated within a centrally planned economy. While this ensured survival, it often limited innovation and international expansion. A new chapter began after the fall of communism in 1989. The brewery underwent privatization and, in 2000, became the property of the joint-stock company Bohemia Regent. De feodale brouwerij, gebouwd volgens de plannen van de Schwarzenbergse bouwer Jakub Maggi en met een belangrijke bijdrage van Pavel Ignác Bayer, staat sinds het begin van de 18e eeuw op de plek van Petr Voks Rosenbergse wapenkamer. Het gebouwencomplex werd later uitgebreid en gemoderniseerd. De huidige indeling dateert uit de tweede helft van de 19e eeuw. De oudste vermelding van brouwen in de stadskronieken dateert al van 1379, toen er maar liefst tien mouterijen in Třeboň waren.
