"Red Red Wine" is a song originally written, performed and recorded by American singer Neil Diamond in 1967 that appears on his second studio album, Just for You. The lyrics are written from the perspective of a person who finds that drinking red wine is the only way to forget his woes. UB40 recorded a cover version in 1983 that went to #1 in the UK and was moderately successful in the United States. It was rereleased in 1988 and went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.... When Diamond left the Bang Records label in 1968, the label continued to release his singles, often adding newly recorded instruments and background vocals to album tracks from his two albums for Bang. For the "Red Red Wine" single, Bang added a background choir without Diamond's involvement or permission. Diamond's version reached #62 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1968. Billboard described the single as a "compelling, original folk-flavored ballad."[1] Cash Box called it a "softie featuring a melancholy tale by a figure drowning his sorrow" with "dramatic vocal performance in a neatly styled arrangement."[2] A live version was released on Diamond's The Greatest Hits (1966–92), but the 1968 single version has never been issued on a vinyl album or CD. However, according to the liner notes in the booklet included in the 1996 box set "In My Lifetime," the version of "Red Red Wine" in the set is the 1968 Bang single #556. Diamond also released a live version on Hot August Night. Several artists covered the song shortly after Diamond's recording was released: In 1968, Dutch singer Peter Tetteroo (from the band Tee-Set) had a hit with a version that reached #6 on the Dutch Top 40 chart. Jamaican-born singer Tony Tribe recorded a reggae version of the song in 1969 that reached #46 on the UK Singles Chart.[3] It became Trojan Records' first chart hit.[4] Vic Dana's cover became his last Hot 100 hit, peaking at #72 in June 1970. ... UB40 recorded a version of "Red Red Wine" for their album of cover versions Labour of Love. According to UB40 member Astro, the group's former vocalist and trumpet player, the band were only familiar with Tony Tribe's version and did not realize that the writer and original singer was Neil Diamond. Astro told the Financial Times, "Even when we saw the writing credit which said 'N Diamond,' we thought it was a Jamaican artist called Negus Diamond."[6] UB40's version features a lighter, reggae-style flavor compared to that of Diamond's somber, acoustic ballad. The UB40 version adds a toasted verse by Astro, opening: "Red Red Wine, you make me feel so fine/You keep me rocking all of the time," which was edited from the single that reached #1 on the UK Singles Chart in August 1983 and #34 in the U.S. in March 1984.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Red_Wine)
"Red Red Wine" was written and first recorded by Neil Diamond. His original version first appeared on his 1967 album Just For You (Bang 217) and was produced by Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich (a.k.a. The Raindrops of "The Kind Of Boy You Can't Forget" fame). Neil's version of the song (Bang single 556) peaked at #62 over a three-week run in April 1968. In the UK, two versions of the song charted in 1969: a soul cover by Jimmy James & The Vagabonds hit #36 (it also made #127 in the US), and a reggae rendition by Tony Tribe hit #46. UB40, whose members grew up listening to these versions, took it to #1 in their native UK with their 1983 cover. ... The lyrics sing the praises of wine, and its ability to make you forget your problems. Diamond wrote another song about red wine in 1970 with Cracklin' Rosie. UB40 recorded this as a cover of the Tony Tribe 1969 reggae version, which reached #46 in the UK charts. The band did not realize until after it topped the charts that Neil Diamond wrote it and originally recorded it. Lead singer Ali Campbell recalls in the book 1000 UK #1 Hits: "The funny thing about the song is we only knew it as a reggae song. We had no idea that Neil Diamond wrote it." Terence "Astro" Wilson, confirmed: "Even when we saw the writing credit which said N. Diamond, we thought it was a Jamaican artist called Negus Diamond or something." The brewers of the experimental Brewery De Molen are only satisfied if they regularly brew something special. A beer that is 'off the charts'. That results in many new beers. Every 6 weeks they brew something that has never been brewed before and perhaps never brewed again. Either at their own brew house or in collaboration with other leading craft beer breweries in Scandinavia and Belgium. In 2017, the brewery was ranked number 6 worldwide in the RateBeerBest ranking. After 12 years of brewing experience, brewmaster Menno Olivier started his own brewery with a tasting room in his garage. Soon the company grew and he moved the brewery to an old windmill, De Arkduif, along the Oude Rijn River in the middle of the Groene Hart. Besides a brewery, you will also find a distillery, a restaurant and a shop with beers and regional products. Menno sees it as his mission to restore the Dutch beer culture and the brewing of traditional regional beers. That’s not all he does, he also shares it with the world. Rodenbach is the kind of brewery that leaves a lasting impression. Here passionate beer masters ensure the perfect flavour of the famous 'Flemish red-brown ale'. Using their own unique recipes they brew exceptional beer from mixed fermentation in 294 oak casks. The result being beers that are slightly different to what you expect. Refreshing and intense. Cheers to the unexpected! (https://swinkelsfamilybrewers.com/en/breweries-and-malt-houses/rodenbach.html)
Things are not always what they seem. Take Rodenbach for example. A dark red, but surprisingly light and refreshing beer. A special ripening process in 294 oak barrels and a balanced combination of young and matured beer is what gives Rodenbach its complex, pleasant taste. That is why we lift our glasses to the unexpected. That it may continue to surprise us. (https://swinkelsfamilybrewers.com/en/our-range/alcoholic-beers/rodenbach.html)

Bock pils is Steenhuffel’s bottom-fermentation beer. This quality lager is greatly appreciated and considered a household name in the region around Brewery Palm. Bock Bock pilsner is brewed according to an original recipe with Saaz hop, a particularly aromatic type of hops. You can smell the result and taste it, a golden lager with a subtle hops aroma and a fruity, fresh taste. 5.2% ALCOHOL PERCENTAGE (https://swinkelsfamilybrewers.com/content/bcorporate/en/ons-aanbod/bieren/bock.html)

With great enthusiasm our beer masters experiment with herbs, hops, fruit and wood. They test new combinations of yeast, hops and ways to mature the beer.
De Molen - Wieken & Krieken collaboration Rodenbach (bbf 9-9-2023) Red Fruit Barleywine For this collaboration we have brewed a full-bodied classic barley wine to which we added many classic Rodenbach ingredients after fermentation, such as cranberry, elderberry and sour cherries. This has resulted in a beer with a unique taste dimension. At first you taste the full-bodied barley wine with its maltiness and ripe fruits, after which the nicely balanced, classic Rodenbach acidity comes up and you can clearly taste the cranberry and sour cherries.
