Heretic Evil Cousin

Ik stond in de Mitra en zag een blikje met Amerikaans bier, dat vind ik interessant. Dus ik kocht het. De smaak was zoals verwacht wat minder, maar wat wilde? Het is de halve wereld over gegaan. Dat doet een IPA meestal geen goed. Het rook als sterke IPA en de smaak had hopbitterheid, maar echt sterk was het niet. Het is trouwens een DIPA:

Een zwaarde variant van de IPA (droog, blond, bitter en hoppig) waarin alles "dubbel" is. Het bier is bitterder, hoppiger, sterker en fruitiger dan de normale IPA. Vergelijkbaar met een Amerikaanse Barleywine, maar dan zonder de moutigheid en het zoetige van die barley. Doordrinkbaarheid moet nog goed zijn. (https://www.beerinabox.nl/bierstijlen/dipa/234/)

Hoe is die Amerikaanse brouwer begonnen?

It all started with a neighbor sharing a homemade beer with Jamil.  He was surprised at the quality of the brew and mentioned it to Liz, so she bought him a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas. Jamil became obsessed with brewing the perfect beer and as his passion for brewing progressed, he became well-known in the homebrewing community. Within a few years, he had won a first-place medal in every known beer style category (82 at the time). He spent the next 15 years writing about beer with more than 100 articles and 500 hours of podcasts on The Brewing Network.... In 2011, Jamil and Liz decided to take the plunge and open Heretic Brewing Company. Within a few years, Heretic Brewing became internationally known with distribution in 13 states and 12 countries. Als ik verder zoek op Evil Cousin vind ik een heel verhaal over Imperial IPA. Zou dat inwisselbaar zijn? DIPA of IIPA?
