Nogne Roaring Forties (16,5%)

Maar dit is geen muziekblog, maar een bierblog. De oplettende lezer zal wellicht al de tag quadrupel hebben gezien. Ik schonk net een Nogne Roaring Forties Red Wine B.A Quadruple. Het bier schenkt mooi. Het is zwart bier met een bruin schuim dat heel snel verdwijnt. Het drinkt makkelijk weg. Dat ik bewust stop vanwege de hoge promillage. Daarna komt een alcoholafdronk met een branderig gevoel dat blijft hangen. Wat is het voor bier? 

Het ruikt niet zoals pils of blond bier, maar de geur doet denken aan drop of koude koffie. 

Nogne Roaring Forties Red Wine B.A Quadruple is een bijzonder bier uit Noorwegen, gebrouwen door de ambachtelijke brouwerij Nøgne. Dit bier is een quadrupel die 20 maanden heeft gerijpt op Amerikaanse zinfandelvaten. Het resultaat is een complex en intens bier met een diepe robijnrode kleur en een beige schuimkraag. Het aroma van Nogne Roaring Forties Red Wine B.A Quadruple is rijk en gelaagd, met tonen van karamel, gedroogd fruit, eikenhout, rode wijn, vanille, chocolade en geroosterde mouten. De smaak is vol en zoet, met een zacht zuurtje van de wijn en een warme alcoholische afdronk. Tja toch nog even over dat bier Nogne Roaring Forties Red Wine B.A Quadruple. Het drinkt zoals gezegd heel makkelijk weg. Het gebrek aan carbonatie valt op. De branderigheid in de afdronk ook. Het zit in mijn hoofd nu... De smaak is echter niet echt een avontuur. Het zit misschien in het feit dat het één van de zwaarste bieren is die ik ooit gedronken heb. Het tikte echter heel eenvoudig weg, te eenvoudig eigenlijk.
