Brits bier

Piddle Brewery, which is in Piddlehinton, set among the rolling chalk hills five miles from the county town of Dorchester. Just down the road, Puddletown was originally called Piddletown. Some say the name change was ‘refinement’ by the Victorians as ‘piddle’ had by then acquired other connotations. Nonetheless, the down-to-earth locals continued to take the pee and called the village Piddletown for another three decades. We are proud to be the Piddle Brewery and why we keep the fun going with wry, light- hearted names for many of our fine ales. And we love the appreciative chuckles when newcomers first see our pump clips or bottles. ... Is Piddle amusing or distasteful? Well, it’s a matter of opinion, though you must admit it is distinctive. But when it comes to tastefulness, all joking aside, we only brew high-quality traditional beers with maximum taste.

We started in Brixton in 2013 and we’ve been brewing in this melting-pot part of south London ever since. Everything we do is supercharged with the buzz and electricity of our home, and its welcoming openness to new people and ideas. Our locally-crafted beers are modern classics with a Brixton twist - telling the story of Brixton in their names, vibrant designs and flavours. From our ultra-refreshing Coldharbour Lager to our hoppy, juicy Atlantic American Pale Ale to our experimental Ltd Edn series, our range of bold, modern and perfectly balanced brews offer something for everyone to enjoy. https://brixtonbrewery.com/pages/about-us

As a successful and growing business, the way we brew has changed over the years, but has remained true to the craft ethos of carefully honing our recipes, experimenting with techniques and flavours to make top quality fresh brews for thirsty people in Brixton and beyond. In 2018 we made the transition from our original arch brewery where we started, to a larger and more modern 50hl kit, and have now started to migrate production of our core beers to one of the newest and largest breweries in Enfield, North London to meet demand. In 2021 we upgraded our original 10hl Arch Brewery where we brew specials and experimental beers in the very heart of Brixton, next to our Taproom, meaning we can use ingredients sourced locally, find inspiration close to home, and can open up for regular tours. A classic beer style, like our Reliance Pale Ale has only four ingredients: malted barley, hops, yeast and water. We source our ingredients from companies that share our commitment to sustainability and quality and, though there aren’t many barley farms around Brixton, we have even grown hops locally and used them for special brews . Our Ltd Edn range of small-batch brews hand-crafted in our Arch Brewery often includes ingredients sourced from or inspired by Brixton Market like mango, hibiscus and green tea. Our beers are always tasty, refreshing and perfectly balanced for easy-drinking. Check out below for a bit more about how we brew. https://brixtonbrewery.com/pages/brewery

"In the Midnight Hour" is a song originally performed by Wilson Pickett in 1965 and released on his 1965 album of the same name, also appearing on the 1966 album The Exciting Wilson Pickett. The song was composed by Pickett and Steve Cropper at the historic Lorraine Motel in Memphis, later (April 1968) the site of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. Pickett's first hit on Atlantic Records,[1] it reached number one on the R&B charts and peaked at number 21 on the pop charts.[2] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_the_Midnight_Hour

"Rebel Yell" is a song by English-American rock musician Billy Idol. It is the title track of his second album Rebel Yell (1983), and was released as the album's lead single in January 1984 by Chrysalis Records. Initially, it only reached No. 62 in the UK and No. 46 in the US upon its release. However, a 1985 re-issue proved to be a big hit, peaking at no. 6 in the UK. The song received wide critical acclaim and in 2009 was named the 79th best hard rock song of all time by VH1 based on a public vote.[4][5] Composition and lyrics At a televised performance of VH1 Storytellers, Idol said that he had attended an event where Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones were taking swigs from a bottle of "Rebel Yell" bourbon whiskey. He was not familiar with the brand, but he liked the name and decided to write the song.[6] The song was co-written by guitarist Steve Stevens. The instrumental introduction, which sounds like a combination of electric guitar and electronic keyboard, is performed by Stevens on guitar alone, who intended it to sound this way. Stevens states that he was inspired by acoustic guitarist Leo Kottke's style.[7] ... "Rebel Yell" has been covered by many different bands such as Children of Bodom, HIM, Drowning Pool, Scooter, Dope, Black Veil Brides, Adrenaline Mob, Bullets and Octane, Otherwise, Blue Stahli, and Queensrÿche. It was referenced in Against Me!'s 2007 song "Thrash unreal" (she can still hear that rebel yell just as loud as it was in 1983). The song appears in a cassette tape in the videogame Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and can be heard during gameplay.[14] ... In 1996, "Rebel Yell" was covered by German dance music band Scooter, released on 9 May by the labels Club Tools and Scorpio Music as the third single of their second album, Our Happy Hardcore (1996). It was a top-10 hit in Austria, Canada, Finland, Germany and the Netherlands. In the UK, the song reached number 30 on the UK Singles Chart. The B-side was "Euphoria". Critical reception Daniel Booth from Melody Maker wrote, "Scooter subvert the reverence of rock and the pomposity of heavy metal, then shatter them in the blink of a maquillaged eye. This, unless you're asleep at the back, you'll realise is Billy Idol's 'Rebel Yell', technofied and amplified into dance oblivion. It is incessant and addictive, exhilarating and infectious, just like those Europopped-up versions of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', 'Wonderwall' and (sodding) 'Zombie'."[17] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebel_Yell_(song)

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" is a song by the American rock band Nirvana. It is the opening track and lead single from the band's second album, Nevermind (1991), released on DGC Records. The unexpected success of the song propelled Nevermind to the top of several albums charts at the start of 1992, an event often marked as the point when grunge entered the mainstream.[2] It was Nirvana's biggest hit, charting high on music industry charts around the world in 1991 and 1992, and was number one on the charts in Belgium, France, New Zealand and Spain. It was met with wide critical acclaim, and described as an "anthem for apathetic kids" of Generation X. Although Nirvana grew uncomfortable with the mainstream and commercial attention the song brought to them, listeners and critics continue to praise "Smells Like Teen Spirit" as one of the greatest songs of all time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smells_Like_Teen_Spirit

"Wonderwall" is a song by English rock band Oasis, released by Creation Records on 30 October 1995 as the fourth single from the band's second studio album (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. Described by lead guitarist and chief songwriter Noel Gallagher, who wrote the song and co-produced it with Owen Morris, as being about "an imaginary friend who's gonna come and save you from yourself",[5] "Wonderwall" reached the top ten in 15 countries; it topped the charts in Australia and New Zealand, peaked at No. 2 on both the UK Singles Chart and the Irish Singles Chart, and reached the top ten in Canada and the United States at No. 5 and No. 8, respectively, thus becoming the band's sole top-40 entry on the latter country's main Billboard Hot 100 chart. The single was certified septuple platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) and 12-times platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA). Its music video, directed by Nigel Dick, won British Video of the Year at the 1996 Brit Awards. "Wonderwall" remains one of the band's most popular songs. ... The song was originally titled "Wishing Stone". Gallagher told NME in 1996 that "Wonderwall" was written for Meg Mathews, his then-girlfriend and later wife.[10][11] However, after Gallagher and Mathews divorced in 2001,[12] he said the song was not about her: "The meaning of that song was taken away from me by the media who jumped on it, and how do you tell your Mrs it's not about her once she's read it is? It's a song about an imaginary friend who's gonna come and save you from yourself."[5] The song's final title was inspired by George Harrison's solo album Wonderwall Music.[13] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wonderwall

"Zombie" is a protest song by Irish alternative rock band the Cranberries. It was written by the lead singer, Dolores O'Riordan, about the young victims of a bombing in Warrington, England, during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. The song was released on 19 September 1994 by Island Records as the lead single from the Cranberries' second studio album, No Need to Argue (1994). Critics have described "Zombie" as "a masterpiece of alternative rock", with grunge-style distorted guitar and shouted vocals uncharacteristic of the band's other work.... O'Riordan stated the song came to her "subconsciously" midway through the Cranberries' English tour in 1993,[11] writing the core chords on her acoustic guitar.[10] Once O'Riordan was back in her hometown of Limerick and returned to her apartment after a night out,[12][10] she played those chords and started building a song around them, quickly "coming up with the chorus, which was catchy and anthemic",[13] and soon moving onto the verses.[10] O'Riordan took the song idea, originally titled "In Your Head", into the Cranberries' small rehearsal shed in Mungret.[14] Given she was playing an acoustic guitar, the rest of the band initially followed along in, as guitarist Noel Hogan put it, "that kind of sweet indie pop thing" that the band featured in their other songs, before O'Riordan decided that it was not what she wanted,[15] picked up an electric guitar and stated that "it needs to be heavy because it's angry". ... The Troubles were a conflict in Northern Ireland from the late 1960s to 1998.[1][2][3] The Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA), an Irish republican paramilitary organisation, waged an armed campaign to end British rule in Northern Ireland and unite the region with the Republic of Ireland. Republican and Unionist paramilitaries killed more than 3,500 people, many from thousands of bomb attacks.[4][5] One of the bombings happened on 30 March 1993, as two IRA improvised explosive devices hidden in litter bins were detonated in a shopping street in Warrington, England. Two people; Johnathan Ball, aged 3, and Tim Parry, aged 12, were killed in the attack. 56 people were injured.[6][7] Ball died at the scene of the bombing as a result of his shrapnel-inflicted injuries, and five days later, Parry lost his life in a hospital as a result of head injuries.[8][9] O'Riordan decided to write a song that reflected upon the event and the children's deaths after visiting the town:[10] There were a lot of bombs going off in London and I remember this one time a child was killed when a bomb was put in a rubbish bin – that's why there's that line in the song, 'A child is slowly taken'. [ ... ] We were on a tour bus and I was near the location where it happened, so it really struck me hard – I was quite young, but I remember being devastated about the innocent children being pulled into that kind of thing. So I suppose that's why I was saying, 'It's not me' – that even though I'm Irish it wasn't me, I didn't do it. Because being Irish, it was quite hard, especially in the UK when there was so much tension. — Dolores O'Riordan in 2017, on writing "Zombie".[10] ... o record video footage of murals, children and British Army soldiers on patrol, he had a false pretext, with a cover story about making a documentary about the peace-keeping efforts in Ireland.[14] Bayer stated that a shot in the video where an SA80 rifle is pointed directly at the camera is a suspicious British soldier asking him to leave, and that the IRA were keeping a close look at the shoot, given "the British Army come in with fake film crews, getting people on camera.”[87] O'Riordan remembered Bayer telling her "how tense it was and how he was blown away by the whole thing. He got footage of the kids jumping from one building to another, and he got a lot of footage of the army. He was a very good director".[88] O'Riordan also wanted to add images with "an abstract message", saying it would represent "the beauty that we see in the world or that we care to open our eyes to" while the black and white footage of Belfast "symbolize the pain that’s there and we close our eyes to". She suggested herself painted gold, and Bayer added children painted silver and a cross that "symbolized Christ suffering and dying, and all the pain that was caused to him".[89] This was filmed on a sound stage in Los Angeles.[37][83] Synopsis In the video, O'Riordan is covered in gold makeup and appears in front of a giant cross with a group of boys characterized as cherubs, covered in silver makeup holding bows and arrows.[85][86] The video also includes the band playing in Belfast alongside clips of local children playing war games,[85][86] destroyed buildings, murals with war-related paintings, and of British soldiers from the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders on patrol in Northern Ireland.[29][85][86] BBC and RTÉ ban The music video for "Zombie" was banned by the BBC because of its "violent images".[90] It was also banned by the RTÉ, Ireland's national broadcaster. Instead, both the BBC and the RTÉ opted to broadcast an edited version focusing on footage of the band in a live performance, a version that the Cranberries essentially disowned. Despite their efforts to maintain the original video "out of view from the public", some of the initial footage prevailed, with scenes of children holding guns.[37][91] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zombie_(The_Cranberries_song)
